The Story Behind Our Vintage Transfers
The 1970’s and 1980’s were the golden age of shopping malls, and t-shirt shops were an ever-present tenant. Picking designs from an inventory of iron-on transfers, customers could easily get a custom t-shirt made in minutes.
Fast forward to today, and with these t-shirt shops long gone, NOS (New Old Stock) transfers have become collector’s items. At Megadeluxe, we’ve become huge fans of vintage transfers. The hard part for us was figuring out how to get these ancient transfers to successfully print onto tees. After many complete failures we’ve come up with our own recipe to revive these transfers and to get them consistently heat pressed onto new t-shirts as well as a few select NOS vintage blank tees.
